Facility Assistant - Part Time
Purpose:
The Facility Assistant plays a key role in creating and maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment at Refuge Church. This individual is responsible for weekly cleaning, simple maintenance, and preparing the space for church activities and rental groups. As a frontline presence during facility rentals, the Facility Assistant ensures spaces clean, reset, and welcoming so guests feel cared for and supported.

Cleaning & Upkeep (2x/week): Clean sanctuary, restrooms, classrooms, offices, and common areas. This includes taking out trash, sweeping/mopping/vacuuming floors, sanitizing surfaces, and restocking supplies. Track cleaning and maintenance supplies; notify when restocking is needed.
Staging Management (2x/week): Set up and tear down equipment and materials used by Refuge Kids and our subleased tenant twice a week. Ensure spaces are properly staged and restored to the satisfaction of both parties, maintaining a smooth transition between uses.
Basic Maintenance: Perform minor repairs such as replacing light bulbs, handling small plumbing issues, and fixing general wear-and-tear items. Notify the Operations Manager of larger facility needs.
Facility Setup & Hosting: Prepare and reset rooms for church services, events, and building rentals, ensuring all spaces are clean, organized, and ready for use. Serve as a host for rental groups by unlocking/locking the facility, welcoming guests, offering basic support, and ensuring respectful and policy-compliant use of the space.
Other Details:
Schedule: This is a part-time position, averaging approximately 5–10 hours per week. Current schedule includes Cleaning Sundays and Fridays; Staging Sundays and Fridays; Other responsibilities on a flexible schedule and may include evenings and weekends.
Supervision: Reports to the Operations Manager and collaborates with other church staff as needed.
Physical Demands: Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs, bend, kneel, climb ladders, push/pull carts, and be on your feet for extended periods.
Qualifications:
Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Friendly and professional demeanor with renters, church members, and guests.
Prior experience in cleaning, facilities, or light maintenance preferred but not required.
Alignment with the vision and values of Refuge Church.
Dependable, respectful, and attentive to detail.
Compensation:
Hourly wage: $16–$18
